Thrash metal only had an impact on metal, the type of metal listener who didn't listen to anything outside of metal.

Thrash is still going on strong today, Grunge just smells funny.

Thrash Metal. It had an influence on Death Metal, Groove Metal, Speed Metal, Black Metal, Nu Metal, Metalcore, Grindcore, Deathcore and even Grunge. Grunge influenced Post Grunge which is barely even a different genre.

I agree with all of that except Speed metal. Speed metal, NWOBHM, and Punk rock are the stylistic origins of Thrash metal.
