Well, mental health is considered off limits given the HIPA laws. You could be crazy as a waltzing piss ant and your psychologist wouldn't be able to say a thing as you chose something off the rack. But there's a problem with that, too. You could be as sane as a church mouse, but if someone says you're crazy, that could be grounds for denying you your 2nd Amendment. So, bottom line, it isn't the information, it is what it is used for and how it can be used against you. When the government places itself in the position of deciding whether or not a Constitutional right applies to you? That right ceases to be a right and becomes a privilege.

If you actually look at what the left is claiming, there isn't anything wrong with the current system NICS but an issue with agencies reporting to NICS,or lengthily the time before a person can take the gun home to allow for a mistake to be caught even then "strengthening background checks" would have stopped 2 of the last mass killings
1. Air force failed to report criminal info on Sutherland texas shooter
2. the Charleston, SC shooter should have been disqualified wasn't caught until latter

Underneath it all, it means looking for ways to make it more difficult and more costly for people to own firearms.
