This is my bearded dragon. I call him Muhammad. Is that halal?

    It is actually customary to name animals after powerful personalities within Islam. It is in their own texts that it was done so.

    Al-Bukhaari did so with his camel.

    Abu Talhah did so with a horse.

    Muhammad himself named two animals after prominent figures in their scriptures.

    Abu’d-Darda’ did so also with a camel.

    Abu Qataadah did so also with a horse.

    Even some teachers write about it:

    Al-Manaawi wrote in favor of it as did Al-Muhallab, Al-Bukhaari, and Al-Baghawi
