How important is the 20th century in human history?

My niece asked me how important the 20th century truly was in human history because she was born in 1999 and remembers only the current 21st century.

I told her that the 20th century, for all the problems that you want to blame it for...

It's really so far, the most important century in all of human history..

There is nothing that you do today...

Nothing that at least, most of us think..

Nothing that that you know...

That isn't a product of the 20th century..

To put into perspective how important the 20th century is..

Mankind is about 5 million years old...

About Retirement age for natural world mammals...

That is about how long most mammals have lasted on earth..

It has really taken mankind that long to prepare itself to become what the 20th century has made us.

The 20th century is really the time of advanced civilization.

If you drive a model T Ford...

Or a White Steam car..

What you're driving...is the platform that built us today...

There really is nothing that did more for us, than that simple machine.

About as important as the other centuries since the Renaissance.

You wouldn't have had anything significant in the 20th C without the Industrial Revolution.
