Yes. People who believe their dogs sleep all the time they are away, need to set up a vid. and SEE what really happens. Dog sleep/nap when they are settled and happy which, for most, is NOT the case when part of the pack is away. Something seen in wild packs when those left behind were on watch for the return of the others.
Some while ago now a test was done involving a number of dogs in one town. Whereas about 6 were ok, and a few others were borderline upset, the majority paced, barked, howled, were distructive and messed the entire time. When the owners were shown the results afterwards, most were shocked. Yes the messing and destruction found when coming home should have made it obvious, very few had any idea about how upset their dogs were when left alone at home. And actually although having a canine, or even feline companion can be slightly better than being alone, in many cases there were two unhappy dogs at home.
For me, people should set their priorities - some seem to get away with having it all, most don't. Before we had our first, we had to get to a point where I could give up working full time which I did, for 6 months before I went back to working part-time ...3 hours a day. He went back to being messy around the house.
