No. You MUST receive your student visa prior to entry to Canada. You cannot change status in-country from tourist to student. Since you have a student visa application pending, you likely will NOT be admitted to Canada as a tourist anyway. And denial of entry will jeopardize that student visa, or any future visa.
Did you submit your visa application 90-120 days prior to the start of school with proof of acceptance & proofs of financial support? Have you had your visa interview at the Canadian consulate nearest to your home? Completed all other requirements (financial proofs submitted, biometrics, health checks, etc.)?
It's so late now it looks like it could be very difficult to get your visa in time to start school. IF you do not get your visa within the coming week or so, contact the school about delaying admission until the next term. If visa denied, of course you are not going to school in Canada.
