If it is against Christianity for a man to have long hair then why did Jesus have long hair and why did Samson have it? I have long hair.?

Jesus wore a beard, as was customary among Jews in contrast to Romans. Such beards were a symbol of dignity and respectability; they were not long and unkempt. Jesus undoubtedly attended to or trimmed his beard and had his hair neatly clipped. Only those set aside as Nazirites, such as Samson, did not cut their hair. (Numbers 6:5; Judges 13:5)

There is no biblical reference for the length of Jesus' hair. Sampson had taken the Nazarite vow. And your long hair is spoken about in 1 Corinthians chapter 11.

If you read the scriptures closely it tells us that Samson was from a tribe that required certain men to wear long hair..not cut their hair....depending on your culture long hair on men may or may not be acceptable for Christians. THe Bible says a Christian should be modest in appearance and conduct no specifics

In recent years, however, the hairstyles of young men, especially very long hair and long sideburns, have drawn particular attention. Yet, didn’t men in Bible times generally wear their hair longer than is customary in most lands today? Undoubtedly they did. But something else is equally certain, and that is that men’s hair was still consistently shorter than that of women. That is why the apostle Paul could write to the congregation at Corinth, Greece, and say: “Does not nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him; but if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her?” (1 Corinthians 11:14, 15)
For one thing, among wavy-haired peoples, such as the Semites and Europeans to whom Paul was writing, there is usually a significant difference in the length that men’s and women’s hair will naturally grow. In most cases, the length is naturally shorter for men. At the same time, people have generally recognized that it is the “natural” thing, the proper and fitting thing, for men to cut their hair to a moderate length, shorter than that of women. For a man or a boy to wear his hair so that he looks like a girl is not natural. Rather, it is typical of an age (and lands) where homosexuality is on the increase. And the Bible shows that homosexuality is “contrary to nature,” both unfitting and detestable in God’s sight.—Romans 1:26, 27

Well...it's true that in the Bible Paul teaches us that it is not proper for men to have long hair (he does NOT actually forbid it)...
but Paul's rumination begs the question, "What did Paul mean by 'long'?"
Did he mean longer than
He doesn't tell us, nor does the Bible elsewhere.
Of course we don't have any reason to believe that Jesus had long hair ("long" by the standards of our own culture)...or short hair. For all we know he might have been bald.

Jesus probably didn't have long hair. People confuse his living in Nazareth with the taking of a Nazarite vow.
The reason Christians generally don't have long hair, though, is that the Bible teaches that "A woman must not wear men's clothing, nor a man wear women's clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this." (Deut. 22:5) I know hair is not clothing, but the principal is to present one's self as the sex God made you, and most Christians see long hair on men as a violation of that. Whether God sees it that way or not, I do not know.

Jesus did not have long hair. all the images or paintings that we have are people's interpretations of what Jesus would look like. Samson was of the Old Testament and was a nazarine. he did not drink wine either. a Nazarine takes a vow not to shave or cut there hair it was an Old Testament Holiness vow. Thanks for the question.

I think Paul was being a Roman citizen at the time. We don't actually have any idea what Jesus' hair looked like when he was on earth.
Romans at the time thought that only barbarian men had long hair.Source(s): bisexual Christian

It isn't and never has been against Christianity to have long hair. Hair length is determined by fashion. Some religions, Sikhism for example, do have rules about hair but Christianity is not one of them.
