Could pine trees grow if the moon disappeared, like evolve or something. (Forget about all the other problems it creates,)?

Can anyone tell me, theoretically, if the sun just disappeared (Forget about all the other problems it creates, could pine trees evolve and survive?

it's for a story I'm writing, it's an alternate universe were the sun and moon are smaller and not as important.

The moon doesn't effect the sea and stuff like that.

No. Photosynthesis. Without the sun, the plants can only live so long using cellular respiration. When the glucose runs out, they can't create any more sugar and the trees, as all plants die. It's hard to evolve because mitochondria and chloroplasts have different DNA than the cell nucleus so genetic mutation and natural selection would be hard.
