It may if all you are including on the lasagna is the pizza sauce. But what about the other ingredients such as meat, cheese, spinach, mushrooms, etc.

Same ingredients, that's why. And why can't Americans spell lasagne?

      Because it is mispronounced.

The recipes for both are practically identical, as is the consistency. Lasagna will, however, typically be a meat sauce with onions and could contain some wine, whereas pizza sauce tends to be a marinara. Italian restaurants that serve pizza tend to use the same base sauce for both dishes.
