Homemade laundry soap does not need glycerine.
Use, by weight, two parts each of borax, washing soda and one part the cheapest bar type hand soap, a supermarket economy or value type.
Grate the bar soap and mix that and the two powders together. Keep it in something airtight, a plastic tub or plastic zip bag.
It works well, you need very little.
You can also make it in to a liquid version, if you prefer that - I've found a link to a similar version which also includes the liquid one.
