Basically, no. Most applications designed for Apple's OS X have Apple specific front ends to give all the WIMP and security features of an Apple computer.

Unix is a command line operating system, not a WIMP one, so those features will not be present and hence you cannot control the program.

noep. Apple apps only run on computers with the Apple Store.

however, you can run some *nix programs on Apple OSes. but apps only work on the system they were designed for.

You could write source code that could be compiled and run on either system, but binary files won't.

Agreed. "Compile-yourself" type programs that you can download as source packages should work equally well on OSX, Solaris or Linux - but a lot of ready-built stuff uses facilities specific to each OS and is not fully portable.
