    They can produce 'ligers', but zoos won't take them, the hybrid cats are not used in breeding programs.

    yes. They have also been known to produce hybrids in captivity, but not in the wild. The hybrids are called ligers and tigons, depending on whether the father is a lion or tiger.

    Yes, but their offspring (ligers and tigons) are normally sterile (though there are a few documented cases of a liger or tigon breeding with a lion or tiger)
