Is there a degree field I have to go in?

    you'd need a law enforcement degree and experience working with animals.

    No special requirements at all, perhaps a semester of animal behavior would help.

    A bit of know about any animal you may encounter and who to consult with.

    The position is like a police officer for animals and a public servant, the charter to serve and protect the general public from potentially dangerous animals. you also see to animal cruelty and enforce local animal provisions.

    Just try not to be like one sad case of a grounded bat for injury,,couldn't wait for bat rescue persons and grabbed the poor bat with pliers inflicting pain then by rule the bat shoved into a small container just to be later fatally tested for virus like rabies. If the officer had only known, the bat would not nearly suffered so bad and eventually recovered and released to its own world.

    No, but most are associated with the sheriff department so you may have to go to an academy.

      No academy requirements for AC in the US, just county/city public servant.
