Why do some places have such strict uniform requirments?

Are they just trying to make their employees hate them? They might work for you just because they need the money and will work for whose ever willing to hire them, that doesn't mean they don't hate you

Most people do not hate their employers just because they are required to wear a uniform.

It can save your own clothes from stains and damage. Especially if you work at a fast food place or restaurant.

It helps the customer know who works there and who doesn’t.

Dress codes and uniforms protect the company’s image.

The uniform projects the company image. One summer, I was a Good Humor man (a mobile ice cream pedaler) and had to wear a white cap, shirt and pants and a black plastic bow tie. It was pretty spiffy and something of a chick magnet.

Why is it such a problem for you?

Micro management. They want everything done a certain way. Sometimes though there is a good reason so that people know who you are and professionalism.
