In today's USA the American Dream is no longer possible. As an investor or entrepreneur, your prospects are severely limited. Unless you are related to someone in the 1%, you will not be allowed to go much above "upper middle class", and even then, you will be saddled with debt, and insecurity. The 1% has won their war on the US worker, and we are well on the way to becoming a fiefdom or oligarchy. They don't even hide it, or deny their goal anymore. They stated that this was the goal of the leaders of the Republican party, during the Romney campaign.

A good investor can make money in a downturn... That's when you buy in because everything is cheap. When the market recovers, boom you just made a ton of money.

That would depend upon your abilities.

They go hand in hand. A good entrepreneur is a sound investor. Never put all your eggs in one basket. You want diversified investments. Every business person is an investor. Whether your investing in a product to sell or a stock. It's the same thing. Buy low sell high.
