How can I avoid getting a repackaged return when I buy online?
In a brick & mortar store i could always pick another off the shelf, so provided they aren't all bad, I had some security. Not so online.
So are there any tricks to get first class stock?

You have no control...period.

You can't. But if something arrives that's clearly not brand new just return it with a complaint. You're entitled by law to return anything you buy online without having to give any reason.

None that I know of. If you get one and it does not look new, return it. I had to. I ordered something from Amazon and it came with greasy fingerprints all over it. It was filthy and disgusting. Yes, I returned it.
