I have a foot ulcer, (cut on my toe), slowly healing. My Podiatrist said Do not get it wet'..I cannot go Swimming!!. Does that sound right?


Doesn't the salt water help?

No negative comments..please

I am new to this diabetic thing.. And i hate feeling restricted. I love the Summer was ruined because of this little wound...

    You might have though that salt water would help, BUT the sea contains a lot of nasties, including sewage - do you really want to risk putting an open wound into that? I'd listen to my Podiatrist. Diabetes is a nasty disease and can affect many areas of a sufferer's life I'm afraid, but don't let yourself become a slave to it.

    Swimming involves water which makes things wet. So yes, don't go swimming.

    You are in the special needs class aren't you? The doctor should have explained it to you better.

    Yes. Do as the doctor said until it's fully healed.
