Do you agree with presidential hopeful Beto O'Rouke? Should law-abiding people be forced to surrender their AR-15s to the government???

Just seeing an armed citizen with an AR-15 in his hands was enough to cause a knife-wielding assailant to stop his assault on a pregnant woman in Kendall County, IL. "He was half a breath away from getting his head blown off, and he knew that," the protective neighbor said after he used America's most popular semi-automatic rifle to thwart the attack. The mother-to-be had ordered a pizza and had gone outside to wait for the delivery driver. While she was standing by, a tenant from her apartment complex started a heated discussion with her. As the argument escalated, the woman's husband came out to see what was going on. The assailant pulled a knife and stabbed the husband, nicking the woman with the same swipe of the blade. Shouting, including a threat to kill the woman's baby, ensued. That caught the attention of a neighbor who works as a private security officer. He looked to see what was going on, saw blood in the hallway and grabbed his AR-15. Upon seeing the rifle, the assailant bolted. Police arrived soon after and tracked down the suspect. Justifiable self-defense. That's how Oklahoma officials have described a triple shooting by a 22-year-old who used an AR-15-style rifle to kill three intruders who broke into his home. The young man was assleep when three strangers, all clad in black, broke into the house. After being awakened by noises made during the break-in, the resident grabbed his semi-automatic rifle. Seeing the intruders, whose faces were covered with masks, the armed citizen fired, killing two of the suspects on the spot; the third ran away, but died in the driveway. After the young man shot the home invaders, he barricaded himself in his room and called 911. When the police arrived, they discovered that one of the troublemakers was armed with a knife, while a second had brass knuckles. A weeklong investigation led officials to determine that the shooter apparently was in fear for his life when he shot, thus he was protected under Oklahoma's "Stand Your Ground" law. A woman has since been arrested and charged in connection with planning the burglary. (Tulsa World, Tulsa, OK, 04042017)
Sometimes the AR15 is the perfect fit, so, no.
Studies indicate that firearms are used more than 2 million times a year for personal protection, and that the presence of a firearm, without a shot being fired, prevents crime in many instances.
Shooting usually can be justified only where crime constitutes an immediate , imminent threat to life, limb, or, in some cases, property.

Yes....but not for free.
The gov. should offer a cash or equivalent exchange. Perhaps for a nice bolt action rifle or shotgun to kill small game and other "useless" animals with? ( hoo ray for the "hunters" )
Maybe Pres. O'Rourke could make a deal with the NRA for all the surrendered AR-15's. Who would then hand them to the Russian people who could then form an armed resistance to escape the tyranny of Putin's dictatorship? Or , just use them to murder other innocent and un-armed Russian's? MAGA !
I mean , wasn't that the intention of the FF for the Second Amd. in the first place?

Yes. Law abiding citizens should turn them in but of course criminals won’t. Makes sense to me.

Yes. ... No hunter needs such a weapon. I hunt and use an old 3 shot bolt action .. never had a problem... === That are these people hunting?? People at a concert? Kindergarten kids? Old Jewish people in a synagogue? Old black people in their church?

I don't agree with Robert Francis O'Rouke on anything, especially law-abiding citizens forfeiting any of their Constitutional Rights.
I know many won't believe this, but Liberal Democrats in the 1980's actually defended AR-15 style firearms as being Constitutionally protected. Those same Liberals at that time demonized handguns as "Saturday Night Specials".
