Is there a reason they make bigger keys for bigger vehicles?

I own a few vehicles including a big work truck and each key represents the size of each vehicle from smallest to largest. The world truck being the largest so its key is about three inches long. Why not make all keys about the same size?

It is my understanding that people drive big trucks because their keys are too small.

That's just coincidence. That doesn't hold true as a rule. As a rule, automakers use the same keys for their entire line of vehicles, so, for example, if you buy a small Ford Focus or a giant Ford F150, they are going to use keys that are exactly identical in size.
