    Yes and no.

Its normal for some color to come off the tattoo if your artist has done what they should have and fully packed the skin full of ink. The skin can't hold ink in all of those areas, so some of it comes out as the tattoo heals.

The part that isn't supposed to happen is that this fades so much that the tattoo itself fades. If this is the case with you then you aren't using enough lotion or ointment on your tattoo.

Excess ink can come off within a few days off getting a tattoo, it's perfectly normal.

Ink can also come off when cleaning, when clothes are pressed against it and through scabbing.

But too much can lead to faded areas and you maybe applying too much ointment or washing it to much so be careful.

  • It's normal to have some flaking or pealing, but the ink shouldn't be completely coming off.

If that'a happening you should go back to the tattoo parlor and show them what's happening. You may have to touch up your tattoo if the ink is coming out.
