The magnitude of vector

is 20.5 units and points in the direction 335° counterclockwise from the positive x-axis. Calculate the x- and y-components of this vector.

    When the angle is given counterclockwise from the +x axis, the x-component is given by the cos function and the y-component is given by the y-function.

    A_x = A*cos335º = 18.6

    A_y = 20.5*sin335º = -8.66

    Given A has been expressed with 3 significant digits, the components too should be expressed with 3 significant digits.

    x = 20.5*cos 335° = 18.58

    y = 20.5*sin 335° = -8.66

    X = 20.5*cos 25° = 18.58

    Y = -20.5*sin 25° = -8.66
