Does the current heat wave make you think seriously about carbon emmissions?

Update:

daytime temps in Cardiff are expected to exceed sixteen degrees tomorrow and there's more on the way!

Not until you brought it up. We have been pretty cool in California for the last few weeks but today is hot but it is August.

Yes. It's going to hit 22 C in Dublin on Friday.

I don't think Irish, Scots, or Welsh are biologically capable of surviving above 20 C. So it is imperative we lead the fight now since I expect Icelanders, Norwegians, Swedes, and the Finnish to be extinct within a year. They died off at 12 C.

Yes, it makes me think of how badly we treat the earth and the growing problem of global warming.

Heat waves are reminders of global warming and tell us what to expect, but, we should not say that Earth is warming or that humans are causing it because of a heat wave. If we do we may be one cold front away from being global warming "skeptics."

The truth is, the evidence that Earth is warming is statistical, not anecdotal. We say that Earth is warming because of a long term trend in global average temperature, for 30 years or more. Not every year is warmer than the previous year because greenhouse gases are not the only influence on temperature. ENSO, PDO, volcanoes, solar cycles and man made aerosols all contribute to temperature, a fact that in no way contradicts the fact that humans contribute to temperature.

    And we are causing it

    The ten warmest years in the instrumental record are 2016, 2017, 2015, 2018, 2014, 2010, 2005, 2013, 2009 and 2007.

I notice that, even though it took 20 years, 1998 has dropped out of the top ten. So much for a pause. Never mind cooling. LOL! :-)
