Why do so many people think soul food is "black food" when most of it came from Native Americans and Europeans?

Update:

Fried chicken originated from Scotland.

Waffles originated from Belgium.

Cornbread is Native American food.

BBQ is Taíno food.

Mac&cheese originated from England.

Mashed potatoes originated from England.

Hoecakes is Native American food.

Chicken fried steak is German/Austrian food.

Cobbler is English food.

Hushpuppy is Native American food.

Grits are Native American food.

Chitlins is French food.

The only thing blacks contributed was boring azz vegetables like greens and okra.

The term 'soul food' is a term for the foods familiar to and beloved by black Americans from the south of the USA. It makes no difference that some of these are eaten by others outside of that group, and even if they originated with native Americans or Europeans before they were considered 'soul food', they are still 'soul food'.

Soul food is typically refers to food that originated in the South and is popular among blacks. According to the "Oxford Encyclopedia of Food and Drink in America," the expression "soul food" originated in the 1960s and came from the expression "soul music," which referenced black rhythm and blues artists.
