Why do I like games/stories a lot more when I can play as the villain of the story?

    It allows you to be evil/badass without any real-life consequences.

    I think I agree with Darren a well written villain is usually much more interesting than an average hero and could be the hero or at least the protagonist his/her own story. Writers often ask themselves "What would Magneto do?"

  • You're a rotten, evil bastard of course, but one who is too afraid to be such a person in real life, so you get a vicarious thrill out of being playtime evil.
