No other price schedule is given, so I suppose they are sold only by the hundred. In that case, the only way to procure 345 fasteners would be to buy 400.

price of 400 fasteners

= 4($4.15)

= $16.60

At most stores, something prices by the hundred means you have to buy in hundreds. In that case, 4 boxes of 100 fasteners are needed, at a cost of 4 * 4.15 = $16.60.

If you're allowed to buy a partial box, at the same price per fastener, then start by dividing:

4.15 / 100 = $0.0415 or 4.15 cents per fastener

0.0415 * 345 = 14.3175 . . . . unrounded total price

Round that to the nearest cent to get $14.32

Use a ratio, let X be the price

$4.15 / 345 = X / 100

Solve for X
