Do you find it odd that the only way to enter space and survive there is to simulate a 'flat earth' environment inside a craft that restricts your vision to looking out a window or 'walking around ' briefly outside only with the equivalent of an umbilical cord?
Even if you could somehow naturally survive the 'fiery walls' on your way into the deadly vacuum or the lack of oxygen on the way up, once you got there your blood would naturally boil and your vital organs would explode. I'm pretty sure space is 'hell' and earth is above it, only deceptively requiring us to go 'up' first before being thrust out, down and away from earth into the bottomless abyssal pit, (Revelation 9), also known as 'outer darkness,' (Matthew 8:12).
So you could actually explain it as a 'trip to hell and back' which has actually cost humans vast numbers of lives, treasure and most of their natural environment, (irreversibly poisoned by the 'mega-industries' required to make it happen). That in and of itself actually figures. How else could you get to even 'visit' hell without acts of monstrous evil perpetrated against your fellow man and nature itself?
Considering this, do you really think you could talk a 'flat-earther' into visiting hell with an atheist? Heaven is still 'up' above earth. You just keep making failed ascension attempts and winding up in the same bottomless pit, all proud of yourself and whatnot. Nice going there genius. Score one for the atheists.
It would certainly be a hilarious premise for a show, but not for the reasons you are thinking.
1"Why are the nations in an uproar
And the peoples devising a vain thing?
2The kings of the earth take their stand
And the rulers take counsel together
Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying,
3“Let us tear their fetters apart
And cast away their cords from us!”
4He who sits in the heavens laughs,
The Lord scoffs at them." (Psalm 2:1-4).
"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings..."
