physics and chemistry are not addressed in religious holy texts. Physical sciences are descriptive in many respects, and simply point out what is. Earth and Life Sciences require application of fundamentals of the physical sciences to understanding the real world as it exists. That requires interpretation. Even if the interpretation is logical, defensible, and functional, it often conflicts with mythology, because, well, myth makers were not well versed in how the universe actually and truly functions, so they made stuff up that made sense according to their limited knowledge..
People get upset when you mess with their mythology. Try telling an American that the US is not even close to the best country in the world and see what kind of response you get, as an example. Does not matter what is truth, what matters is that it is a fundamental belief they hold, and you are saying they are delusional. People do not like that. at all.
