How hard is it to escape a full nelson?

How hard is it to move your arms?

Does size/strength matter?

Not hard at all. Many gave some example of how to get out of it. As long as you not face down on the ground it is not that hard.

It is hard if it is applied correctly. Many use it and think they know how to apply the nelson or half nelson and they do not. There is a way to apply it that hurts and very hard to get out. And no one is really teaching how to apply correctly, not in wrestling maybe in Judo or Japanese Jujitsu they do.

Size does matter in this 1. If the guy you are applying the nelson to is thick limbed and shouldered you might have issues applying. If the person applying it is big armed they may have some issues as well. Now strength is the key. If you have a thick strong neck yes it would be harder to apply on that individual. They may be able to force themselves out. Or you may never bend the neck enough to apply correctly. Now if you the 1 applying is strong, than yep you are going to have a really good hold.

Wrestlers and people trained in judo know how to do it.

Twice as hard as it is to escape a half nelson

Sit down on the floor extremely quick. Their jaw will bang into your head and it may hurt a tad, but forcing them to bite into themselves, perhaps even bite their own tongue will cause them to break the hold.

It's hard to move your arms (so use your legs). Strength always matters to a degree, but using your brain is always a better plan. Foot stomps, heel to the groin, a kick in the shins, or maybe even throwing the other person if you can, would all be a better way out than just trying to power your way out of it.
