Is ground ginger a good substitute for fresh grated in a carrot ginger soup?
In the recipe is asks for 3 tablespoons of freshly grated. Can I use ground ginger if so how much?

Yes, ground can be used. But fresh and ground ginger have quite a different flavour in my opinion. I'd much prefer to use fresh ginger personally.

Use 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger for each tablespoon of fresh grated ginger as a substitute. If the recipe calls for 1 tablespoon of minced fresh ginger, use 1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger.
