My cat died last night in my arms..due to old age..?

I put him in a blanket then in a box and put him in the shed due to the vets being closed. This morning iv gone to get him out the shed to take him to the vets to be sent for cremation and I opened the box and he has fleas on him.. he didnt have them when he died. I have a hedgehog problem in my garden and wondering if this is where he got them from but with him being dead why are they fleas on him..will this matter to the vet..will they still cremate him?

Yes, they'll cremate your cat, even if it does have fleas on it. However, dollars to donuts, your cat had fleas when it died - even if you didn't see any fleas on it while it was alive. The fleas you saw the following day are all leaving the cat's body because the cat is dead and they're searching for a new source of food.. That's what's usually happening when you see fleas on a dead animal that you could swear never had fleas before.

Buy some flea powder and sprinkle that on your cat and the blanket. That should get rid of the flea infestation.
