Is it true that it’s difficult to get a job in NYC?
In the communications industry? I hold a Communications degree from UMCP and I plan to work as a Communications Specialist in New York City. Would I have a difficult time finding a job in that field in the city?

Yes. NYC has lots of opportunities and also a lot of qualified people who want to work there. It also depends on what you mean by "communications specialist." That could be posting tweets or blogs for a non-profit, working for a software company in the PR department, or being a grunt at a network -- or 100 other things. If you didn't do an internship or have connections in NYC, it will be more difficult. On the bright side, 3 million people work in Manhattan and each of them somehow got a job there.

You are at the very end of as long long line. If you do not have an excellent education from TOP schools, and then years of experience in smaller local markets, then wanting to start in any major market indicates hubris. And naivete.
