Is Hong Kong no longer a safe haven for tourists after the recent addiction to protesting and police tear gas?

HK is a safe place for tourists. The so-called recent addiction to protesting isn't so. The protests today are not as violent as the terrorist protests of the 1960s in which pro-Beijing, pro-leftist forces armed themselves and went around planting bombs and killing people.

Irrelevant foreign issue in an irrelevant and very uncivilised foreign area. Not worth a second of my attention.
