Many portable tanks last ten years or more. They are "good" for as many years as they are not obsolete and have be re-certified after proper testing.

depends on the size of the cylinder and the gas consumption . Tell me that information then I will tell you

Indeed it depends on the size of the cylinder and how much gas you might use. Cooking? Heating? (Thus more used in winter.)

They didn't say "using the gas", they said "using the gas cylinder".

There's no way to answer this question. There are far too many variables to even begin to guess.

    How big a cylinder?

    How large a house?

How powerful is the furnace it's supplying?

How good is the insulation in the house?

Does the furnace heat the whole house or only part?

Any other gas appliances on that cylinder?

    WHAT COUNTRY?

    ...and more.

Answer all those questions and lots more and we could probably get pretty close. With what you have provided, we can only provide a range, so here it is:

Sometime between no weeks and forever.

Yes, that's a worthless answer but let's be fair: it was a worthless question.

Your answer seems aimed at the duration of the gas, not the durability of the cylinder.

We can't tell you because the answer depends on the size if the cylinder and the rate of usage.

That isn't what was asked. The use of the cylinder is not the same as the use of the gas.

Until it runs out I would imagine.

No, many cylinders can be refilled and you can then continue to use them...
