What's the point of jiu-jitsu solo drills?

Cause the coach makes us do solo drills for 30 min every class. I mean drills with a partner are useful but what's the point of solo ones?

Solo drills is a very important concept and it is important to get self-trained.

Have you ever heard that boxers shadow box? Probably not.

Same concept. Not everything you need a partner for. It is just another tool to train with.

Mainly since you do not have a training partner every moment of the day.

You CAN train on your own as well.

Here is a tip. "Do not understand, just do!" Eventually in time you will understand. It just doing forms/kata. Many think it is a waste of time. They are the ignorant ones, they are ones with limited knowledge.

    Practice and discipline.

You are concentrating solely on the movements, rather than concentrating on an opponent.

good point; also, depends on what general style of JJ, what the drlls are, the correctness & precision of the technique & movement, how many hours per each lesson, discipline, expertise of instruction
