when on a cruise, can I upgrade my cabin after we leave port?

    It never hurts to ASK.........but the answer will almost Always be NO.

    Cruises are almost Always booked to capacity, unless it's really, way, off , off season.

    and even then, they are not inclined to give you better cabins, just because you ask nicely.

    Perhaps if you are a diamond club member or something.......(someone who has taken many cruises with that cruise line) you MIGHT get the upgrade if one is available.

    No. You may not even be able to upgrade before you go. I'm scheduled for a cruise in five weeks that has been fully booked for three months.

    If you bung your Bangladeshi cabin steward $50 he will know of any empty cabins and will quietly move you into one.

    Pretty much never. And only if your cabin becomes uninhabitable. And it won’t necessarily be an upgrade

    Maybe, but only if the company allows it and if they actually have cabins available for you to upgrade to. If they do and they do, I guarantee it'll cost you, though.
