Circular Pool Math?

A circular swimming pool has a diameter of 20 feet, and is surrounded by a concrete sidewalk that is 3 feet wide. What is the area of the sidewalk? How much fence is required to enclose the deck?

    Area circle pi r 2

    pi x (13 x 13) = 531 ft2

    pi x (10 x 10) = 314 ft2

    Sidewalk area is first total minus second total = 217 ft2

    Diameter fence = 2 pi r = 2 x 3.1415 x 13 = 81.7 ft

    Area of pool = 100 π ft²

    Area of pool and sidewalk = π x 13² = 169 π ft²

    Area of sidewalk = 69π ft²

    C = 2π x 10 = 20π ft

    Length of fencing required = 20π ft

    Area of the sidewalk is

    pi*(13 ft)^2 - pi*(10 ft)^2 = 69 pi ft^2 = about 217 ft^2.

    What deck?!? ...the fence needed to enclose the outer edge of the sidewalk would be

    2*pi*(13 ft) = about 82 ft but use a calculator.
