"The Word" As the FIRST VIBRATIONS and waves in the Space time substrate. The ultimate "particle" of matter is a "Dimple" in space time. The dimple MOVES as part of a WAVE. This motion is TIME. Energy or matter depends of one's POV----If you "ride one the wave/dimple, you see it as a solid. If a waves moveat right angles to you, you see it as a wave of ENERGY.

Although we do not use the Bible or Religion in Science, it is interesting how "the word" could be a perfect allegory for how the waves in space time began in the first place---primal waves in the substrate that became ALLwe know.

There was no before. Time did not exist before the big bang. That is like asking what is north of the north pole. There just is no north direction there. There is no past at the big bang.

We don't know how or why time began or how space began. Our usual concept of time breaks down near the begining. It is replaced by a more fundamental concept but nobody knows what that is.

Time is a function of the motion of matter through three dimensional space. All matter that exists is constantly in motion, both cosmically and sub-atomically. As long as matter exists, motion and time exists. Time in our universe began with the so-called ''big bang'' which created matter and set it in motion. Before that event occurred, there was no matter and therefore no motion, so it was essentially timeless.

Man is a finite creature, who has a beginning and an end. Man therefore cannot conceive of infinity or the beginning of time. A possible explanation is god.

Hawking was not convinced that this was the case.

That is what your imagination is for, infinite empty space.

Chaos existed before time, all cultures say this, a random bit of chaos given infinite time is what created god.

Time is a necessary construct to describe the travel of light and orbit.

We don't know. There is a "consensus" in general that time existed...before the "big bang". There are now concerns that the "big bang" theory isn't holding water anymore either. At least not completely. WE DON'T KNOW. We may never know.
