    How the H*ll are we supposed to know? Ask your landlord. Obviously, he is the decision-maker - NOT us.

    Yes, as long as your landlord approves the roommate for residency

    Make sure to ask you landlord if it's OK. The landlord will want to put your new roommate on the lease & perhaps also charge more rent for another person there. Don't sneak the roommate in, because if you get caught you could be evicted.

    In New York, it's common, and approved by the landlord, since that's the only way young people can afford the rent.
