Russia just arrested 1,400 hundred protestors that wanted opposition candidates. Besides still being communist, Russia's new mix of fascism?

...and ultra-nationalism should be shocking and alarming to anybody that knows history, don't you agree?

Update 3:

I think they're still as communist as communist gets today, but Putin being a former KBG boss should be enough to tell anybody where his loyalties lie.

I wouldn't call Russia communist. It's authoritarian, plutocratic, murderous, and regressive.

That's why Trump loves its leader so much. He wants to emulate Putin.

Russia never achieved "work according to ability, receive according to need" communism (no country ever did), and since a long time hasn't even pretended to want to get there. They have a rabid type of capitalism there now

Yes, abusive capitalism is worse than communism in some ways, and far worse than democratic socialism.

  • Everyone was under the impression that after the fall of the Soviet Union, Russia would become a Western-styled liberal democracy. Unfortunately, it never happened. The corrupt elite in the communist party became even more corrupt. It's now a right wing oligarchy under Putin.

Russia is no longer communist. The Russian government is authoritarian/totalitarian, which I agree is alarming and disturbing.
