Is the San Diego Zoo a nice and ethical place to visit?

Do they do more good than anything else for the animals living there? Are they just trapped there and not treated like the kings and queens that they are? Or even badly mistreated?

Debs is right; SD zoo is very progressive (as much as a zoo can be) with the welfare of the animals in their care. The wildlife park is defo worth the long(er) drive out to see them roam in a much bigger environment. Incidentally, the tram line which runs through the park, known as WGASA Bushline Tram... stands for Who Gives A Sh*t, Anyways lol true story.

The San Diego Zoo is one of the best in the world. Their habitats are clean and more than sufficient for the animals they house. While zoos do keep animals in captivity, they are helping to promote conservation of species through breeding programs, education, and research. They do a lot of good, and San Diego in particular is excellent.

They have the best environment possible for not being out in nature. Remember though that many of those animals were born in captivity and wouldn't know what to do in nature. Others have been injured and wouldn't survive in nature. The Wild Animal Park (Safari Park) which is part of the San Diego Zoo but 45 minutes away is a much better environment for larger animals which get to run free. They do refuse to put the predators in with the pray though still.
