Did I sin?

My job required me to buy a specific item to use at work. I went to the store and since it was expensive I switched the tag and paid for it at self check out.

Yes, you can correct the mistake easily and quietly.

    1. Perform the following and restitution will be served.

    Example:

Let us say you owe the store $5.00.

Choose something in the store you need that is $5.00.

Pass it through the self checkout twice.

(Don't turn your head or look around; remain casual)

During your prayers at night ask the Lord forgiveness - don't do it again.

In the event you are a practicing catholic you can perform the above and then attend confession.

Please, don't go crying to the store authority and subject yourself to a lot of vampire teeth, use some wisdom to correct the small fault; learn from the experience.

The answers I have read concerning this question are appalling, you so-called Christians think your perfect, give this young man/woman some room to correct his/her mistake; display a little compassion; John 8:7.

Yes, you did. The end does not justify the means. Thou shalt not steal.

  • Yes!

    This is called stealing!

So, you have to ask God for forgiveness, and not to do it anymore!

Switching tags is illegal. And immoral. "Thou shalt not steal".

Yes, that is theft. You effectively stole the difference between the two prices from the store. Your disregard to abide by the contract by not paying the agreed upon price is the exact same thing as disregarding the contract by breaking into the store during after hours and taking the item.

    Thou shalt not steal.

But, of course, if you don't believe in sins and an objective morality, then you did nothing wrong according to that belief.
