Why do Republicans only care about the debt when they don't have the presidency?
When they have the presidency all of a sudden fiscal responsibility goes out the window. Tax cuts and spending increases across the board, we'll pay for it later!

Read up on Jude Wanniski, an advisor of Reagan's (yes, Reagan's). He came up with the "Two Santas" theory.
He noted that Democrats frequently got popular responses because they offered spending on social programs (they got to be "Santa"). Then when Republicans cut that spending back, they looked like the ogres.
So Wanniski suggested this: cut taxes but *don't* cut spending. (That is, be "two Santas".)
That way, when the economy tanks and Democrats get voted in, Democrats have to either raise taxes or cut spending. Either way makes them look bad, so Republicans benefit.
This is literally putting party before country. Go ahead, drive the country into deeper debt...as long as it hurts Dems politically, what do the GOP care?

They have already demonstrated that if they can't run this country they will destroy it now haven't they!

Because there are three hard things to do, and they don't want to do the two harder ones. The choices are:
1) Increase debt
2) Decrease expenses
3) Increase income (that is, taxes)
They don't want to make cuts to the military because that's where their donations come from, and they don't want to increase taxes, because voters won't keep them employed. So they increase debt. Hypocrites.

They DON'T care about the debt. They just agreed to the democrat deal that will add to it and eliminate the debt ceiling. I guess you don't care about the democrats being the ones who always support spending increases. Hypocrite.
