How big is the cup and what kind of coffee do you want to make?

For a standard size espresso, about one large teaspoon. Same for any kind of coffee where you start with one espresso and dilute it, such as an americano, latte or cappuccino.

I drink instant coffee, so 1 heaping tablespoon per cup.

Instant coffee is not ground coffee.

It entirely depends on the quality or variety of ground coffee you have, and how strong your preference for a cup of coffee. Experiment a little bit with the particular blend of coffee you bought to see how much grounds per cup you think is best, and then write it down.

One teaspoon for a cup of weak coffee. One tablespoon if you want something with kick.
