Was this police officer really trying to do this woman a favor? Also was he really trying to help her out?

I was watching an episode of COPS where a police officer did a traffic stop on a woman for driving a vehicle with tags that belongs to another vehicle, the woman claims she didn't have a driver's license and provided the officer's false info of her name.

Inside the trunk the police found unopened tools that were still in the packages, the officer then tells the suspect that her admitting where she'd gotten the tools from is gonna be the best break she's gonna get, he also claims that he's trying to help her out the best that he can but needs for her to be completely honest with him.

The woman claims she doesn't believe the tools are stolen, the officer also tells the woman he needs to know which pawn shop she pawned one of the tools at.

No the officer isn't trying to help her that's a common lie they are trained to say in order to get more information.
