Burn only started to hurt 4 days later?

I got a thermal burn on my hand on Thursday night the skin went white and numb straight away wasn’t broken though saw a dr who was worried that it’s a 3rd degree burn went for a dressing change on Sunday where the nurse removed the dead skin so you could see the layers underneath that were dark red and white and it was still painless however today it’s hurting when I move my wrist (it’s just above the joint on my hand) but what I want to know is why has it taken 4 days to start hurting? Is it likely to be a 3rd degree burn or just a bad 2nd degree? I have an appointment with a burns assessment team in a few days I’m just curious

The nerves have come back to life.

The nerves are just starting to wake up so to speak. This is not an uncommon thing. Once what is going to die, dies, it leaves the raw exposed live stuff
