What is the purpose of life? Why should I work hard to make money, only to be parted from it in a short while.?

    Don't part with it, invest it to improve your lot in life. Life is a lot more enjoyable not worrying where the money for the next bill will come from.

    We all die, you can try to cheat death but unfortunately she will always win in the long run, she plays the long game and living always attempting to cheat death will ultimately only bring misery to your life. The Harry Potter tale of the deathly hallows is an example, the three brothers ultimately met their demise in the attempt to cheat death. The elder wand led to overconfidence and got him killed, the resurrection stone led to depression and unsatisfaction and drove him to suicide and the cloak led him to madness always hiding from death and led him to his demise by fear

    There is no purpose just like u dont think of a fly's afterlife, legacy, ghost, or purpose when u kill it, same with us. We have jobs, same as worker bees have jobs in the hive to prootect the queen and make honey. Humans want purpose to feel there's a reason to not kill ones elf when life is horrendous and no point seems plausible. Every living thing suffers and no savior intervenes.

    Life is what you make of it. If you want it to be worth anything you might as well at least put enough effort into it to make it enjoyable. If not, then don’t bother.

    Work so that your work becomes your realization: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maslow's_hierarchy_o... and a support for your love: of wife ("For Couples Only") and of God ("Beams from Meher Baba," "Autobiography of a Yogi," "The Path of the Higher Self," etc.).

    The immediate purpose is to have food, housing, a car, clothes, etc. And that's how you do that.

    Ecclesiastes 3

    King James Version (KJV)

    1. To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

    2. A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

    3. A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

    4. A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

    5. A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

    6. A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

    7. A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

    8. A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

    9. What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?

    10. I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.

    11. He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.

    They do say 'a fool and his money are soon parted'. Maybe you need to control your expenditure?
