How to ripen cut up pineapple?

My mother cuts some pineapple whilst it was still green and it taste so unripe. I put it in the fridge overnight in a container with the lid off in a plastic bag and this morning it still tastes unripe. Is there any other way to make cut pineapple ripen faster so I can eat it?

    refrigerating and keeping the lid off won't ripen anything. Just dry it out and make it take on other fridge odors.

    You cannot ripen them after cutting as far as I know.

  • You can't really ripen cut fruit. My big trick with any fruit that isn't quite ripe or just not great is to cook it - in a frying pan or on the grill. You could throw a little maple syrup on it while cooking. One other possibility is to macerate the cut fruit with some sugar and a splash of fruit juice or better yet - a liqueur.
