What makes a murder mystery good? ?

    letting your readers know whodunit before the characters do. This will help them read on, trying to 'help' the characters put the story together.

    Only finding out 'whodunnit' at the very end.

    A twist in the tale is unexpected and interesting.

    Not knowing who did it.

    When it turns out that the victim wasn't murdered at all; he/she just went on holiday for a couple of weeks without telling their neighbours.
