are the manga series "Change 2!!" and "W Change!!" really Shounen?

i've been reading some rare and underrated manga called change 1 2 3 and then was later recommended to

W Change and Change 2 ...the tag says shounen yet i read in the summarized description that the MC is a girl.. it just seems shojo from the series description.. how is it possibly a shounen??.

Shônen is only the name of the main target demographics of the manga : boys.

It doesn't mean it must feature a boy as a MC, it doesn't have to conform to some themes in particular, etc.

It also doesn't mean it doesn't appeal to girls or older readers.

It only means its main target is boys.

they seem shonen to me. shonen doesn't have to star a boy, it just has to appeal to boys. both these series look like there's a good deal of action in them, so it seems shonen enough. shonen can have romantic elements too.

i'd say the main themes of shonen are heroism, friendship, and action whereas shojou is love, sacrifice, and empathy. so either genre can star either sex and can incorporate other elements while still retaining the genre
