Anyone who lived in 1945 would have said the USSR.

Nowadays after years of propganda, it's ''America''

Of course, all who have even a scintilla of Geographic awareness knows there never was, isn't & never will be a country called "America." There was massive aid from Canada, the United States, Mexico & Brazil, 4 of the 55 principalities on the American continent. Still the U.S.S.R. did most.

Each country contributed to the downfall of the Nazi pig dogs.. UK Lancaster bomber, and the invention of the first programmable electronic computer (colossus) used to break the German enigma code. The Russians because of its huge military manpower, and the Us because of its industrial ability.

WWII was intended by Hitler to be a war to destroy Bolshevism and the rest was all sideshow. And the Bolsheviks won.

The Allied Countries. There really isn't any point in trying to assign them to a league table.

None. It took a combined effort of all of them to defeat Germany. Had any one of them not become involved in the war Germany would never have been defeated.

USSR provided the blood. The UK the intelligence and the USA the supplies/resources.

I don't know but Id like to argue for the UK because we cracked the enigma code which meant we knew exactly what the Germans were up to, we also had a lot of reach in that we had access to and experience in the middle east which allowed us to funnel arms to the Russians through Iran and command the oil supplies.

Enigma machines were used at unit level and the "code" wasn't cracked what was cracked was a way of throwing possibilities at it and whittling down the results, the truly important cipher was Lorenz.

U K because they took the brunt of the war from the very start, others came in much later.
